Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion

GEDSI is a crucial component in achieving the objectives of RT4D by:

• Fostering inclusive trade and sustainable development
• Raising awareness and enhances understanding of the varying impact of trade on men, women, and marginalised groups, and
•  Equipping trade officials and stakeholders with skills to integrate GEDSI perspectives.

Through focused interventions, and in collaboration with partners and stakeholders including the ASEAN Secretariat, RT4D strives to ensure AANZFTA and RCEP are implemented inclusively, broadening access to trade benefits for women, people with disabilities and marginalised communities.

RT4D’s GEDSI goals include:

• Enhancing the understanding of trade officials and ASEAN Secretariat (ASEC) regarding the differential impacts of trade on men, women, and marginalised groups,
• Further building the expertise of trade officials and ASEC to conduct GEDSI mainstreaming and analysis effectively,
• Prioritising inclusivity and address the needs of diverse stakeholders in the implementation of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), and
• Increasing access to and utilisation of economic cooperation activities for women and disadvantaged groups.

RT4D works with ASEAN Member States to support the inclusive implementation of AANZFTA and RCEP. This creates a positive impact and benefits people and business entities from a diverse range of backgrounds.
