Key Achievements:
TGEI supported GDCE to conduct an organisational gender equality and diversity (GED) assessment for GDCE, adapting the WCO’s Gender Equality Organisational Tool (GEOT).
Based on findings of the GED assessment, TGEI supported the development of an organisation-wide GED action plan outlining eight targeted actions to address structural barriers to gender equality and social inclusion.
Key activities delivered under the GED Action Plan include:
- The production of two short videos providing step-by-step guidance on (1) small e-commerce shipments, and (2) cross-border agricultural exports. Designed to be clear, practical and inclusive—including sign language interpretation—these videos aim to reduce compliance challenges, strengthen trust between SMEs and customs and encourage more businesses, including women-led and minority enterprises, to engage in trade.
- Completed an Accessibility Review of a GDCE Facility to supporting disability inclusion.
Upcoming work under the GED Action Plan includes:
- Dissemination of two videos supporting trade facilitation for SMEs in Cambodia.
- A Guidance on Accessibility Review to support GDCE continue to strengthen accessibility and inclusion over the long term.
- A Gender-based violence Prevention Handbook, including a reporting mechanism. Standards Operating Procedures will also be developed to support GDCE handling reporting cases.
- A report with recommendations to support disability inclusive recruitment in GDCE.
- A report recommending flexible work options to support employees to accommodate various health needs, care and domestic work.
- A Guidance Note on using diverse images and gender-neutral language in communications activities of GDCE.
